The first use of cotton production originated in India and Pakistan from about 6,000 B.C. Cotton products were introduced by Arab traders to European countries in the 1st century (source: Organic Cotton: From Field to Final Product).
In the late 16th century, cotton was already cultivated in certain regions in Asia and America (source: Organic Cotton: From Field to Final Product).
Cotton was used for so many purposes of which is the use of this fiber for clothing.
Over the past decade, the awareness of the organic cotton manufacture for social and environmental purposes has improved. Certain textile companies are expending the production of the fibre i.e. H&M, Nike, Anvil Knitwear, Levi Strauss & Co., Adidas, etc. (source: www.organiccotton.org).
The plaid shirt I am wearing is made out of 100% cotton designed by Pop Boutique located in England. Here is a little overview of the store in question.
Pop Boutique is a vintage clothing boutique situated in England. Over two decades ago, the founders collected products from different places and areas all over England to establish a vintage clothing boutique.
They also have an eco-conscious program where they up-cycle the garments collected.
I bought this organic plaid shirt a few months ago since I usually love clothing with plaid pattern and since I admired what they are doing for the environment and for society as a whole. This shirt is the perfect top for rain and cooler days in the spring and summer time. Nonetheless, you can also easily tie it around your hip to add more style to your outfit during those heat waves!
