O.N.E. Outfits from a New Era

Light Flow- Diverted waste: 2500 light bulbs, 66m of stripped copper wire from speakers, tulle.

Montreal’s Biosphere Environment Museum isn’t only beautiful from the outside, but from the inside as well…

One of the exhibitions in the museum called O.N.E. Outfits from a New Era showcases the efforts of artists in the fashion design, visual art, jewellery, cabinet making and hairstyling supporting the concept of up cycling to make something new.

"Canada produces 35 million tonnes of garbage every year. 80 percent of that garbage goes into landfills and incinerators". (source: Biosphere Env. museum)

The artistic creations in the exhibition demonstrate that waste can be saved.

Pillbox Dress-Diverted Waste: 6,800 pill bottles.

These are some of the designs that I was able to capture.

This exhibition, like most, is displayed to enlighten people (big consumers) that recycled products can generate something stylish, modern, and revolutionary.

Scanty Attire- Diverted Waste: 1 poutine container, 2 coffee cups, 2 TV packages, 1 street vacuum bag.

So I CHALLENGE YOU to find something in your garbage bin and recreate it into something both artistic and practical!

Haute Couture 2.0- Diverted Waste: 36 computer mice, ½ computer keyboard, 120 cables.
