ARTÉ- Artisan du Renouveau et de la Transformation Écologique

If you live in Montreal and love DIY projects, if you’re creative and innovative, you might like the story I am about to tell you.

It’s called ARTÉ, a place where you can find anything apparently, anything you want! I haven’t got the chance to visit it, but I will certainly!

This project started with Stéphane Tremblay and his love for recycling. He used to collect things during his childhood and what was to become of him is history.

He decided he wanted to gather used products in a warehouse where people can visit to select what they like for a DIY, artistic, cinematographic, and musical project.

His intention is to encourage people to recycle or up cycle instead of buying them brand new.

I’ve found this music video on their website www.arte-montreal.ca. It was shot in the ARTÉ warehouse (in Griffintown Montreal) to give you an overview of what the place looks like! (If you focus your attention towards what is behind the artist in the video;) )

I have always loved to stroll around Montreal looking for used products and to transform them into something brand new.

When I was a teenager, I’ve always bought clothes that I transformed to make it more compatible to my taste. Of course, with lots of trials and errors, I made it happen or the project turned out to be a total flop. Nevertheless, I tried.

Over the past few years, the notion of restoring a product has captivated my attention. In addition, I love the responsiveness of helping the environment to reduce waste.

This is the concept behind ARTÉ. If Stéphane is a hoarder of all things used and is selling them away, then you have to take a creative leap to visit him.

I will definitely do so very soon! You never know what might come your way!

Stay tuned for more :)

Love,

MW
