Reminisce about the D.I.Y. Up Cycle Project

ā€œThe concept behind up cycling and renewing your garments is to find something you donā€™t want in your closet. Instead of throwing it away, you create something new and add value to it.ā€

Do you remember my blog post about the sleeveless Jacket I found and wanted to up cycle back in May (If you scroll down, you can see other stories, one of them being Project DIY Upcycling from May 20th)?

Well, the mission is now complete! The jacket was refitted and restyled! With the help of a professional tailor, I was able to reinvent a 20-year-old jacket.

Hereā€™s what I did:

Ā·      I tightened from the sides to make it more fitted

Ā·      Changed the buttons to something with a less prominent look (black buttons which I found in sewing tool box)

Ā·      Removed the chain holder from the upper right pocket.

As I promised, I kept the puffed up shoulders since they are very stylish and sharp looking.

I wasnā€™t sure about the sleeves in the final result, but I had to overrule my objection, since the puffed up look gives an edge to the overall style.

If you have an idea of what you want to wear for an event and have a little bit of time in your hands (If you think itā€™s doable for you), find something old and give value to it! Not only it helps the environment, it also makes you happy youā€™ve created a new design and a new concept!

If you have an up cycle project you want to share with Smock & Chattels, you can either leave a comment or share it via my S&C Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Pinterest accounts.

Stay Tuned for much moreā€¦

Love,

MW
