DIY Project: Sweater Weather or Fall Knitted Jacket?

I’ve always loved to transform things and make it my own.

I remember I used to go shopping for hours when I was a teenager, hating everything. In the end, I used to buy something, come home and end up transforming it. Yeah, I like to add my own touch to anything!

Although with school and university life, I stopped doing that, while always rushing from one place to another not really thinking about what I was going to wear for my ECON class!

Those days are now long gone and I have more time to focus on two things I always loved and learned; fashion and sustainability!

Though, I have to owe it to McGill for making me fully grasp the concept of sustainability and also for making me love to write (you’ll do that a lot like a lot in your Poli Sci classes).

But this blog post isn’t about my past and is about the present and the future…

I wanted to present to you a little DIY project I took on (again)! Don’t you just love creating and recreating. For example, you have a sweater and you don’t love it anymore, well, I got the 411 on that, you can always transform it!

My DIY project this time was to transform a black knit sweater that I bought from Forever 21 a couple of years ago into a simple Fall jacket!

Here’s what I did:

1.     I cut the sweaters' front bodice into two from the middle.

2.     I had a vegan deep berry/purple leather, fabric, which was hanging around in my closet for some reason.

3.     I asked my seamstress to sew the vegan leather, fabric as a half-inch side lining (both on the right and the left) in the front bodice of the ‘new jacket’ so that it adds color and looks extra fashionable!

4.     Et Voila! That is about it!

I think fashion and creations are all about the details! When I’m shopping, I always look for those small details that help flourish the bigger picture!

Color and details are very essential for me in fashion!

I hope you liked what I did with this and will be posting some more DIY projects!

In the meantime, please feel free to comment and share your thoughts as I always do!

So stay tuned for more this fall season!

Love,
